Default Legal 50mm Lifts Only

Legal 50mm Lifts Only

You can have any lift you want as long as it has been certified by an engineer. But 50mm is the biggest u can go on many vehicles without getting an engineer involved.

Yes some insurance companies will insure lifts over 50mm without engineers certificate but here’s your problem ... if you have or cause an accident where someone gets hurt you may find yourself up on criminal charges or civilly sued; reason being you have illegal modified a vehicle.

This thread is for 50mm lifts information only!!!!!

So who has done a 50mm lift?

What shocks? OME/koni/Tough dog/Ironman/EFS/Bilistein/ Rancho/ ProComp MX-6/ Doetsch Tech Adjustable/ non adjustable? Pros and Cons

What Springs? OME/King springs/Tough dog/Ironman

What Steering stabilizer? Adjustable/ non adjustable? Pros and Cons

What Sway Bars? Front and rear? OME/ Whiteline/king spring Adjustable/ non adjustable? Quick disconnects? Pros and Cons

What track bars?

What was the Cost?

Where to have it installed?

41mm foam cells Tough Dog: Firm ride, bigger bore shock on the rear is close to the tire.
Tough Dog springs: i did hear that they are made by Kings Springs
4 Ways RTC without the RTC spring not fitted: wish i got the Rancho
Selby's adjustable rear bar:you need extended links or your wasting your time.(got bar of Fleabay took over 3 weeks to get it)
Installed in my garage, basic tools will get it done(and spring compresser) rattle gun makes it much easier/faster.

Got the springs/shocks & SS for about $1200

Is this the sway bar you are talking about on ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=220388270292

I am looking at the Whiteline automotive in the rear (adjustable sway bar) and the OME front sway bar.

Page 41 in catalog

Has any one Had OME or whiteline automotive sway bars before??

Current lift - 40mm

Tough Dog Srings from 4wd1
Rancho SS from 4wd1
Rancho shocks from SummitRacing

Has been a very good combination - no death wobble or problems. From memory about $900 all up.

Also - yea I have the whiteline installed. Goes just as well as the Addco which I previously owned. Well worth the purchase.

Cheers,
Chumby.

Whiteline don't do them any more. It's now Selby (same bar). I went though this all just last week. I installed mine over the weekend. Got it through Repco at a good price (helps when you know the staff so got trade prices). About $260 delivered to Qld.

Check out my Ride(s)
Default

03 GC with 265/70 16 BFG AT ko tyres Upcountry spec springs

Lift: Daystar 50mm Poly BB ($250)
Shocks: Koni Adjustable ($500 front $400 rear)
Dampener: Tough dog RTC ($160)
Track bars and sway bars standard (rear sway bar 50mm blocks)
Extra: Poly air airbags in rear with in-cab gauge and OBA ($500)
Cost: Approx $1800 gradually over 3 years
Comments: Self installed the lot, have been very happy with end result. Great for towing and better for beach driving, rocks and mud (soft-core stuff). 50mm fine for tyre size no rubbing or trimming required and spare fits in original spot. Small DW occasionally due to imbalanced tyres (Thrown weights and tyre wear) balancing and rotating tyres sorts it. Go for it!

Yes that is the one.
Remember:
"This bar is made to order which normally takes approx 5 business days"
And if the courier picks it up and delivers it to the right place.
They were good to deal with just the courier service was very poor.
