Its simple enough to try your self.

From (not so good) memory, I removed the intake hose down to the turbo to give me more room to get a spanner in. Used a spanner to loosen the fan hub. With the front jacked up from the chassis so that the suspension drooped I could drop the whole assembly out past the diff. I think the draglink got in the way with the suspension compressed. Getting the new unit back on can be a pain, lining the hub up and spinning it back on is quite fiddly. Should take under well under 2 hours.

I did trim around 20mm from the back edge of the fan shroud, on the drivers side, well it was fitted, this was mostly because of the length of the spanner I was using hitting it, and my fat arms struggling to get down into the gap. This can be avoided with the correct tools, suitable arms.

Get the biggest adjustable spanner you can, adjust it to 36mm, put it on the clutch fan nut and give it a whack with the biggest sledge hammer you can comfortably swing under your bonnet.

The nut is supposed to only be hand tightened, so it just needs to be shocked loose. If it doesn't, then you'll need to come up with a way to lock the water pump pulley from turning.

My fan was seized on, so after hitting the spanner with an extension/breaker bar on it with my sledge hammer, I locked the water pump from spinning with a screwdriver (first screwdriver broke and bent the second) which also had a extension/breaker bar attached and tied down so it wouldn't move, then I still had to whack the hell out of the spanner with the sledge hammer, see pics.

When installing the new fan, put some grease on the threads and mating surfaces and only loosely hand tighten it on so that it comes off easier next time.

Lock the clutch fan pulley, please do not lock the water pump.. You will be in a world of hurt if you try to lock the water pump.

Nothing. Lots of us have them and the benefits are huge. Just be aware that tuning an engine can reduce its reliability (makes sense, thats why race engines are rebuilt all the time).
