Default Programming 3rd key

Bought a 3rd key to programme as a spare in the event I ever lost one
Tried the method described for doing this a couple of times but didnt work

Can this actually be achieved on a 2007 build 2.8CRD RHD JK or will it facilitate a costly visit to to dealers ?

Cheers

I had a local locksmith program a spare key.....no "remote" function, its just a key, but he programmed in the security code no problem....way cheaper than a dealer.

Seems the self programming routine only works for the US models.

Really? If so, yet another avenue of customer extortion from Chrysler where consumer laws are weak. They must have a whole department of international commerce experts thinking up how to utilize geographic boundaries for profit. Pity they don't put the same effort into other departments.

Not exactly, as you can get locksmiths to do it as well, so FCJD don't have you by the nuts for it.

Once you get the key from the US. (But with the exchange rate low and the shipping some places charge, it may not be much different to buying here.)
