Default new home builder connecting to the grid in Tassie

Hi guys anyone know what a rough cost would be to get electricty on a new house with a block that has now power connected yet? The pole is about 35-40 metres away from the entry point on the house. Can I assume they can still run the wires overhead these days and onto a high point on the house?

Regards A

Thanks for that I have got on the supplier Aurora. At this stage they seem to be willing to offer a ball park figure. I read a few posts on the Net saying that Aurora wouldn't quote without a deposit. Hopefully they will call back with an answer.

They do and like everything else they charge like a wounded bull to get it connected. $800 for the pole to mount the meter box. And what's worse is they won't connect the line onto your property unless you use one of their own $800 Aurora Energy poles. So coupled with $200 for a meter, $400-$900 to connect to the grid and another $1000 for the electrician. The cost blows out to around $2.5k. F### it I buy a 4 AGM batteries and a 20a smart charger and use that with an inverter. I already have a 900w geni. I might even do a solar set up to go with it.

They'd probably work out a way to charge you for using your own geni and solar too.

I would be running it underground. I did this in WA a few years back..180 metres of trench from the last pole to the meter box on the side of my house. No ugly cables, no problems with tree branches etc.
