Power Problem

Could be the dropping to second matter is just coincidence to the loss of power. Are there any fault codes?

Could be just wear and tear due the ample km’s on the motor. Squirts a little motor oil into the bores when testing if you get a bump in compression pressure it would indicate excessive ring/piston/bore wear.

It is a possibility you have broken top rings the second ring will still give a reasonable comp but total power would be off.

Ok so i have just done a compression test and the cylinders measered 120-125 accross all 6.
Plugs have a good, even, light brown burn.
The engine runs fine. No noises or anything.
As i said we completed the rest of trip fine except the top end power loss

does it rev freely to the redline when it auto changes up through the gears with WOT ?

peak torque on these engines is ~3000rpm, but they still feel powerful to me pretty well all the way to the redline @5200

does the torque convertor lock up ?

it should change 4 times in 3rd and 5 times in drive, on a level road up to about 90kmph

what % of power do you estimate it has lost ?
