I am not trying to be difficult, but wanted to know if you had some test data or specific information that the rest of us could also benefit from.
No- no data outside of common sense , the things are obviously built to a price , and not a high one , simply looking at them will tell you that , that they do the job OK -so you say --no arguements from me , fine , tell me do you have any data that indicates that they are value for money at $75--perhaps flow and filter data against say a K&N (reuseable) @ RRP of $90 (so I been informed by Autobarn today.) or a Westfield @ $50 (Bursons Southport today). I add that niether of these worthies had any stock though.

Given the price I would love some reasurance that I have'nt just thrown approximately 5 scotches in the khazi.

By the way --do you work for Chrysler ??

[QUOTE=Jeepology;805424]Mate - get a K&N off Wooders - they come with a starter kit for cleaning and oiling and are more efficient and you can clean after you have been wheeling. The duty cycle for the genuine is based on not being used in dust.....[/QUOTE)

Consider it done--on order right now as I type, Cheers , Al .

Not even close, I am just a normal Jeepaholic with no connections to Chrysler other than being their customer.

I agree factory ones are made to a price, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Hemi engines from Mopar are also made to a price - I wouldn't mind having one of those I have not modified my intake so don't need the extra benefits that a different style of filter might bring. Also conditions in New Zealand are not dusty enough that a stock filter gets choked frequently (it nearly rains every day in Auckland).

I never said I was happy with paying what we have to pay the dealer, but sometimes its part and parcel of our hobby (thats what I was trying to say).

I have thought about these ones for some future state.

I was contemplating getting rid of the stock air box and use this and have a snorkel at the end of it taking it out of the engine compartment. WRC cars use these filters, they are big in Europe.

I guess thats where we are differing here , I will not pay premium prices for second class stuff without biting , I don't accept it should be part and parcel of our hobby to just accept unconscionable prices from people and companie's who are no better than profiteers.
As to other filters and the dust---I have plenty (of dust) , absolute mobs of it ,why if you would like some I would be happy to provide you with a couple of tons at no charge atall --as long as you are happy to pay frieght.
Cheers , Al .

No I haven't, there is a big water crossing in between. We have done a few trips otherwise and it is stunning. Completely different in the south island with rocks, mountain passes and river crossing. North Island is more mud, mud and muds (every kind).

You can pick up on Kiwi offroad scene on www.offroadexpress.co.nz Its a bunch of really friendly offroaders (not tied to a make like Jeep). If you are coming across here, I am sure someone will be more than happy to have you as a passenger.
