I recon there are a lot of worse places to be stranded. If I was there, the way things are with me at the moment, I would probably run an axe through my battery so I couldn't leave!
Anyhow, your not a "long way from Tipperary".

How do you know the battery is stuffed? You could have just left things on & flattened it.

This + check the alternator.

Batteries don't typically just die unless there are other issues. You'll typically get a few days/weeks of it being hard to crank before it gives up completely. If it just died, I'd be checking the alternator.

Nope. Batteries do "just die". But still, check all the other things...
