Default Weird Dual Battery Problem

So, I've been putting this off for a while, deliberating how I want it set up etc. I finally bought a deep cycle battery, that turned up the other day. I've got it hooked up in the box I used in the WJ so it's portable. I was originally just going to run the old dumb continuous duty solenoid, but thought I'd buy a VSR.

Wired up the sucker today, big ass 150a fuse in 4g cable from: battery - fuse - VSR, other side of the VSR is: pos straight to Anderson plug, negative from Anderson plug to negative of main battery then negative joins 2nd battery negative and positive joins 2nd battery positive through 100a fuse.

Problem - as soon as I connect the second battery it will blow the 100a fuse, I tried this twice, blew both times so I swapped it for a 100a circuit breaker, this time something popped, I am assuming the VSR as nothing else seems to be cooked and the car is running fine and everything working as it should (from what I can tell)
Maybe it's time to go for a DC-DC charger - or just run the fridge off the car throughout the day and hook up solar at camp for the couple of hours of daylight in evening and morning before driving

I don't think the Puta (BCM/ECM) would like a VSR in the system like that, I would certainly go for a DC/DC charger, the Puta would just ignore it and your batteries would be separate from all angles and a panel could be hooked up to the aux easy enough...both batteries would be charged up and be living in happy ignorance of each other...........
As for the fuse going off that is interesting something isn't what it seems......

Yeah it's a weird one hey, I can't work out why the fuses were blowing, bloody thing. I've run 4g cable from the battery to the fuse and VSR then to the anderson and the 2nd battery is hooked with 6g to the anderson, was never a problem on the WJ, and that joined them both through the solenoid as soon as the ignition switched on.
Might just leave it and run the solar panel when needed. The deep cycle 90a will last ages running just the fridge and led lights at night

Our 2012 and now 2015 is wired to an Aux battery via a Piranha 140 isolator connected direct to the main battery positive.
6mm twin B&S positive runs from the Piranha output, negative is connected to downstream of the alternator sense wire. (connecting the negative direct to the terminal post will bypass the smart sense of the system).
The 6mm B&S twin runs to the side of the drivers side rear seat and terminates in an Anderson plug. I do use this plug to connect up a lead to anything that needs external power, like lights or compressor.
For the Aux I use a 2m 6B&S extension lead from the plug, to an Enerdrive DC2DC charger on the top of my aux battery box, that holds a 100ah Enerdrive Lithium battery.
I can also back feed from the Aux to the side on this same extension, so I can supply power from either main or Aux.
I've never had an issue with the Piranha or the system in either vehicle.
