The engine cover you just pull upwards at the front and then the rear. Drain plug is easy to get too and so is the oil filter I think. I usually get a syringe and suck the remaining oil out of the bottom of the oil filter housing as oil just sits there. I think this is why some dealers are over filling these engines. Fuel filters are really easy also. Juts don't overtighten otherwise you may crack the filter housing.

I usually use Mobil 1 ESP 5W30.

All above is good info, but you may wan't to get a spare washer for the drain plug before you start. I nearly got caught!

I fitted one of these drain plug washers 2000km ago as it's the same size as what's used on the VM diesel. Will check it at the next oil change (8000 km time) to see how durable the material is:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Maz...-/262148061308

VM diesel drain plug washer size is:
Inside diameter = 13mm
Outside diameter = 22mm
Thickness = 3mm

Cheers

I've never changed a drain plug washer in my life in 20 yrs of owning and servicing my own cars. If it doesn't leak, why bother. Just have to make sure all surfaces are clean before refitting drain plug.

Stupidly enough I actually didn't even notice I dropped the washer into oil pan when I did my V6 amarok and refitted plug in the end with no washer (not knowing) and has not leaked in 5000km so far. Not ideal for sure but it is holding. Due for another service so will put one back in.

The reason I mentioned it was at my first change after the dealer had been doing it, the washer was damaged when I took out the plug.

Yeah fair enough, always check the washer is OK and clean it (and around drain hole) too.
