So my understanding is that this is for the earlier Grands. Now seeing that it can cook with extra load, I'm assuming having a second battery and running that sucker down at night won't be ideal for the alternator having to run all the electrical stuff and charge the run down second battery. What a pain.
Southern Comfort, is the Jaykec a direct fit or did you have to fiddle with anything?

The Jaylec is a direct fit mate. Got mine from U.S. Auto parts in Brisbane, I'm in Melbourne, delivered within 24hrs. That was mid 2018.

Denso 1042106590, Jaylec 65-8536,Lucas LRA 03854, Chrysler 04801835AB ,AC,Auto 8 is a chinese ripoff and not advised. These alternators are all 220 amp and have four bolt holes for mounting.

Sorry, quick edit - Price for my Jaylec was plus GST, so actual cost was approx. $750 in 2018.

As an Electrical Fitter Mechanic by trade, I agree with the RACV guy. It's extremely difficult to determine that it's on it's way out. It either works or it doesn't.

Still have my old one, it's a Denso. Don't know whether they used different brands over the years though.
