Always go by the build date (small brass plate) for id'ing it, also as I mentioned to Darkside there are two variants of the 96 regarding which sensors they use, some use the cheap and easily found OBD1 sensors, the other uses the OBD2 sensors, it's just a difference in the connectors.

Also, no immobiliser issues in the pre-updates!!!
Yeah the different sensors was one concern I had, not knowing which ones that I need if one does fail. I have a few spare OBD 2 sensors but none of the older ones. I am more concerned about the steering box crack if it hasn't been sorted already. Presuming it has cracked. Most of the common probs wouldn't concern me much at all if it had rego as I wouldn't have to get it pit passed and I could just get the things sorted that I can't do myself while I was at work one day. I'd really like to drive it for a week or two to suss it out and expose those hidden problems, because for some reason the old owners let the rego expire over three months.

Do all XJ's have an LSD JJ? If not I can get some MBL to quieten down the diffs presuming they will be noisy, I think that will be a given.... lol

The sensors are really easy, just look at the 8 digit number that is on them, problem solved...

As for the LSD's, no, they are not all LSD but what I have seen all the pre-updates except the 95 Limited Classic were LSD but of course things can be changed in the last 19yrs, after all my 95 OBD1 Sport is now running full OBD2 system incl engine and leather trim with woodgrain and cruise all which to the uneducated looks original....

Rage at all the electrical issues and in the process of overhauling the cooling system

AGAIN since it still loves to overheat and shut off at low speed coming off the beach

still refusing to start when its hot

So many electrical gremlins to work out

I need send it to Sims as it's in the way but it still has some good parts on it. Don't worry Rusty anything else I take off it won't be sold, it's going in the shed in crates, ready for pickin..... Only thing that is left and has been sold is the bolt on panels. Still plenty of bits to choose from...

Regards A
