Default 2.7 CRD Auto Transmission Dipstick Length [VIDEO]

Hi,

Lot of great posts on here about measuring the fluid level in the mercedes 722.6 transmission on the 2.7 CRD. But i can't find one that gives the length of the dipstick from the bottom of the pan to top of the filler pipe. If you look at my video below you will see what i mean, it could either be 91cm, 94cm or 99cm. Could someone advise which is correct? - thanks

Below thread was also very helpful, but also important to understand the level is based on temperature.
I spoke to my local transmission specialist and he said to measure the level.
After filling turn the engine on and go through the gears, then with the engine running put the dipstick in, it should be around the 25 degree mark but don’t worry to much if its a bit above, so long as its not at the 80 degree mark. Then to get it to 80 degrees go for a short drive, circa 1 to 2 miles, then measure again with the engine running and it should be at the 80 degree mark. Note that normal operating temperature is in the 90 to 120 range, so you don’t want to get it too hot.
Obviously in a an ideal world you want to read the transmission oil temperature via an ODB2 reader and measure from there, but this will work for most people.

He also said, don’t do a full flush as it can be more damaging, better just to drop the pan and replace the 3.5 litres that come out, because some of the sludge might help seal things and all new fluid might cause you problems on that front.
