Default Hello

Hi folks.

Just bought our very first jeep, have found searching this forum very useful already. I'm sure to have questions before long so.. brief intro.

Used to like mucking about with old Valiants until we had our first kid and thought we'd better brow up, act our age and get a modern wagon, went for a Holden which was fine until it's tenth birthday and it systematically started to shut down and all the plastic parts (50% of the car) started to disintegrate. Depressing to think the Holden is now worth a tenth of what we payed for it and the old Val is probably worth five times what we sold it for... also depressing to look at a perfectly good motor surrounded by half cocked computers and rotten plastic gah! live and learn eh

Anyway, long story short, we live by the coast, surf a lot, rarely do highway k's and wouldn't mind accessing a few beaches that need light 4wd. Of all the vehicles I researched the better half fell in love with the TJ's.
Found a cheap one with low k's, a bit scruffy but nothing awful.
I can see spark plugs, distributor, it sounds like a tin can when you kick it... pretty sure there's a computer in that little black box on the right but at least it's locatable and there's room to swing a hammer at it.. Right, Good then.

Did some more research.. read all the good reviews in great detail and skipped over the negative reviews completely.. feeling good, confident!

Currently just messing about getting it ready for a roadworthy.

Very nice to have a car that I genuinely like and WANT to spend time on again.

I get the impression that posts without pictures are just boring so for what it's worth..

Here's the gumtree photo

..and messing about with camera settings, better soft top on and wheels from the for sale section of this very forum. (Thanks again RPG)

It has been a long time since I have driven a short wheelbase and I had forgotten how stupid fun it is

thanks for reading, Thanks for having me, Cheers
