Default More queries for grand drivers from Bill Loneskie-help!

Hi all,
Seems to be a piss off, trying to get accs for the wg grand? Here are a few more queries:
Would larger tyres have enough room to move in the well if used off road?I still think gearing is a tad low hence lower fuel economy!
Has anyone used their grand V-8 in the heat? ( I live in WA) and do they cope? What about another fan etc?, bonnet scoop?
Has anyone had any engine probs-eg reliabilty or longevity? When in bush, I need stone cold reliability!
Has anyone fitted extractors-any benefits? What about taking off cats etc and fitting a sports muffler-anyone?K+N filter-anyone?
Again- I am looking for better breathing, less restriction, cooler running and max reliabilty+ less fuel/better power-anyone? I will put hiclone on for a trial also! Is current intake a killer? In recent test- the jeep did not get past first base because of this! Thanks again.

I still think gearing is a tad low hence lower fuel economy! Gearing is adequate for the OE tyre fittment.

Has anyone used their grand V-8 in the heat? I had one for 3 months before I sold it. It coped fine with the heat and humidity of Southern QLD.

( I live in WA) and do they cope? What about another fan etc?, bonnet scoop? It will help to install a cooler thermostat. Engine cooling will become an issue if you lift the vehicle, then, there are a series of mods you can make if and when that becomes an issue.

Has anyone had any engine probs-eg reliabilty or longevity? When in bush, I need stone cold reliability! The aluminium rear Dana 44 housing is weak and prone to failure in hard going.

Has anyone fitted extractors-any benefits? Yes, axtractors make a noticeable performance improvement. What about taking off cats etc and fitting a sports muffler-anyone?K+N filter-anyone? Do not remove the cats; it is illegal to do so and the OE cats is as efficient as any aftermarket performance cat as our dyno testing has proven. All 3 are listed in the ADR spec for this model.

Again- I am looking for better breathing, less restriction, cooler running and max reliabilty+ less fuel/better power-anyone? Replace the OE air filter cartridge with a K & N or there are several aftermarket cool air induction options. The WJ is not, an ideal bush vehicle without significant modifications. The motor is very strong and the auto is the strongest yet in an OE Jeep vehicle. It is unfortunate the anemic Dana 30 and aluminium housed 44 have been chosen by the factory. I have spoken elsewhere on this forum regarding the aluminium housed Quadradrive rear end.

I will put hiclone on for a trial also! One of several tBody spacers is a superior option.

Is current intake a killer? It is adequate but can be improved upon significantly as above.

In recent test- the jeep did not get past first base because of this! [/b]One of the most endearing aspects of the Jeep marque is their modifiable nature. Real Jeeps are built, not bought.[/b] Thanks again.
