Default Which A/T Tyres???

This question has probably been asked a thousand times....

I want some A/T for the KJ. I do a bit of offroading. Some in the mud, some in the rocks, some on the bitumen. Tyres have to be reasonably quiet as it is my wifes daily driver.

All the manufacturers claim to have quiet tyres with excellent grip. What I am after is some real life experience.

Tyres I am looking at are:
Cooper A/T (S/T too noisy I fear and are unavailable in 245/70/16)
Pirelli Scorpian A/T
Bridgestone Duelers A/T
Goodyear ATR
BFG AT (not so good in the wet and a mongrel to balance or maintain balance)

The original Goodyear Wrangler S4 do get bagged a bit but I and others who have seen them in action have been surprised with the punishment that they have taken over the rocks. In mud, not so good but hey what do you expect from the OE tyres.

Any feedback most welcome

Not had a problem with these. I have 31" tyres and they do there fair bit of off road and well as daily driving. They are a little noisy but do the job for the money.

I have never had a bit of trouble in the last 20 years of using BFG AT's!!!
The only trouble I even heard from others were the ones that were made in Japan instead of the USA. So check that out first as I could not be happier and will buy them again as have used plently of others that did not measure up as well.

I have been running Cooper S/T's for years and at roughly 80 k's they are a bit noisy, but with windows up and radio on cannot hear them.
I have done 60,000 (guaranteed for at least 80,000) on my current set and still got miles of tread left, and they handle in the wet extremely well.
I currently run 245*75*15

I have used the Pirelli, BFG and ATR.

All 'round, hard to beat ATR. Won't use BFG again unless they come up with something entirely new - no better than SRA in dirt ( don't know about puntures, though ) and rubbish on blacktop. Pirelli seems very expensive and no better than OE S4s or SRAs.

Everybody tells me Coopers are great but haven't tried them yet.

Have used BFG's all terrain A/T. 55,000klms and still good tread. Never had a puncture, been to Cape and back amongst other places. Found them to be a tyre I could have confidence with, the only downside which may apply to others is road noise while daily driving. The road noise is not a big enough worry to cause me not to buy them again or not to recommend them. BFG's are great !!
