You can use all conductor plate from Mercedes NAG1 5-speed transmission A 140 270 05 61 / 08 2400 02

To change the plate ist very simple. But be sure to be absolutely clean. No dirt should get in there

It doesn't seem like a difficult job if you look at this video:

From memory many years back Fester had a conducter plate issue, there may be some info on that thread might be worthwhile having a read of.

Thanks for that - it's a great "how to" video. It's also pretty much as I imagined - keep clean, be methodical and it becomes a simple pull-out-put-in job.

I'll hang off doing it until I sort out where my weep is coming from (different thread) so I can fix both together.

Yeah looks pretty simple according to the YouTube vids I watched. I saved the following examples to refer to later should I need. Second vid is good and gives info on possible source for conductor plate.

Grrr! I just got the HP fuel pump sorted, and now the N3 speed sensor error is back. Looks like I'm up for the conductor plate. What next?! Wait, I know. The viscous heater is making bearing noises when not running, that's what.

Which conductor plate do I want?
So, I have done my due diligence on the part number question. I can categorically state that 1402701261 and 1402701161 are different parts.

1402701161 is (I believe) the correct one. It has a funnel-shape leading into a small cylinder to receive the dipstick tool (just behind the electrical connector plug) and stop it in the right place to measure the oil depth.

1402701261 has an open channel guide that would allow the dipstick tool to go all the way through. I assume this is for transmissions with a conventional made-to-length dipstick that seats on the top of the fill tube. This is the wrong one for the GC 2.7 CRD.

The other way to tell them apart is 1402701261 tends to be white on top while 1402701161 is all black.
