Attached are the two designs we're considering at the moment.
I'm leaning towards the bottom one, because the cross brace is in the roof, and an intrusion plate on the roof is something that's required in most comps anyway.
To complete this cage, I'd also need a brace that goes horizontally behind the driver/passenger seats to mount the 4 point harnesses to. We'd also need a standard cargo barrier fitted.
So far the plan is to make the whole cage out of 50mm diameter x 2.0mm thick CDS. Mounting points will have a single reinforcing plate welded on top of the body, with mounting plates/feet (which are welded to the cage) bolted through on top and bottom of the body, and over the mounting plate.
Overall, we're really trying to build something that will add the least weight possible to the vehicle. We're trying to lighten the overall weight long term.
