Default 20l fuel tank mount question?

G'day all. I'm keen to mount one or two 20l fuel tanks either side of my spare wheel. Kind of like the one in the photo but just using the big standard 20l tanks. I'm running 33" tyres (if that makes any difference?). Can anyone give me any advice, recommend/link me to a website where I can get one that won't break the bank please?

The only one I've seen that fits an OEM tyre mount was home made. I don't know how long his tailgate hinges would have last though as it would place an awful amount of extra weight on them. Replacing the standard hinges with something like the Rugged Ridge or Terraflex HD ones are a $500 exercise.

You can buy the baskets that bolt to your OEM tyre carrier but again it's a fair bit of weight on your tail gate that is already taking the weight of your spare.

There are aftermarket tyre carriers that are able to carry standard Jerry cans though. That would be your best option but again you are looking at several hundred.

Other than that, you can buy the Rotopax cans like those in your picture and stack them. I carry them on a flat platform on my hard top roof racks.

Cheers for the info mate, I was afraid that it being too heavy may have been the case.

Chat to UNEEK4x4 about their tyre carrier with jerry can holders. Not sure if its available without the bumper but it does attach to the chassis, so may be able to fit it without bumper as well to save some $$

Do you have a long range tank fitted yet?

Honestly jerry cans suck to fill up, lift, pour, etc, plus you have to make sure you keep them clean, plus people could steal them

I have one of these tyre arms and avoid using the jerry's as much as possible

I'd go for an HD auxiliary tank, probably from long ranger (although there is also brown davis and another brand)

If you really want jerry cans, another option could be to go for the ones that sit between the front wheels and the front doors.

also, all tyre arms end up rattling getting loose. the teraflex bracket looks to be one of the best options to avoid rattles but im not sure you can mount jerrys to it

I have seen left and right hand 20 ltr Jerry Can - bolt on mounts for a swing style tire carrier at DBOR. You can obviously fit one or two depending on your needs.

Personally I prefer an extra fuel tank as it has a low COG, is well protected and doesn't stick out the back but different strokes......

There's also the Titan and AEV fuel caddies that go behind the spare tire

Could try these, still costly though.
