can't hurt to have another fuse close to the battery, what happens if the wire rubs thru and contacts metal? built-in fuse wont help for that

Swapped it over already but I will look at adding one in the future. Hopefully the conduit should prevent any prob in the interim.

Fuses should be as close to the battery as possible, the fuses mounted in devices are there for the device's protection, the fuse near the battery is there to protect the car and the battery in case of a short circuit.....

In mine I have a 35mm2 cable running front to back to a distribution block/fuse block from there any rear mounted accs get their supply from that as well it feeds supply to the dual battery controller, there is also a fuse on the lead that connects to the second battery right at the battery for the same reason....

Fair enough I get one in the next couple of days, maybe even today and fit it, thanks JJ & Cypher. My underhood is starting to look like a maze of fused lines. I might have to start labeling them so I know which is which.

Sure is I have like 15 things coming off the batteries LOL. I could use a dist block but that would only alleviate about three cables. The RAA said once, when I was getting the battery load tested; "it's not like you have a lot running off them"!
Hopefully though this will be the last fused line, BTW wouldn't you know Autopro were out of the two things I needed, one being 12awg blade fuse line and two, 6mm yellow ring terminals. I settled for some 8bs cable to connect yet another thing to the battery that being my amp ground. Which consquently I just tried to run the line before letting the engine bay cool down. Lets just say that lasted all of five minutes.

Regards A

On that topic, general thoughts of distribution blocks? My battery is starting to cramp up with wires too...

PS congrats to all XJ forum members on over 7000 posts in this topic! Woot!
