catch can location
Hi Gang, has anyone dropped a catchcan in this area? seems a better vacant / easy accessible space than squashing it in the usual spot for a GC.

No reason why you cant lets put it that way...as long as the plumbing can be done and the thing can be emptied...all good...nice thinking !

Did cross my mind, but instead of around 350mm pipe from engine to catch can, it would of been at minimum twice that and due to the incline up to the catch can, oil would collect and pool in the lower section of the plumbing, ( gravity ) effectively making the catch can fit for purpose obsolete, although any oil it there will eventually drain back to the engine and as Farwest said Need to be able to drain the thing, and the thought of constantly having to remove it to be able to drain it, sealed my decision to install it where I did, But hell mate give it a go, cant see any reason why not

Must be a small catch can, be hard pressed to fit a coffee cup in the spot on mine, a provent would need a space at least 300 x 200mm with elbow room for the hoses and there isn't room there...

I reckon the kit that comes with the Provent, though you have to modify it anyway, would confirm what Olmate wrote...as well as logic would see the need for it to be close to but downhill from the feed.
Once installed it is easy anyway to access the tap at the bottom of the drain hose to empty...and the can is not in the way at all.

Looking at a few installations on the Berima Diesel site (ok on a AToy-yoda) they have fitted one at the back with a drain hose & tap

I mounted mine off the air box, made my own mounting and the drain hose runs down and sits on the bash plate, to empty, I just grab the hose from underneath when doing a service and drain into a tin... did have a tap on it but I made the hose too long and it escaped so the tap self destructed on the road, the temporary fix, fold end of hose back with zip tie is working well until I get a roundtuit to do the job properly.
