Personally, I just feel that a switch should be used to isolate power from the circuit as close to the supply as possible. Probably not so important with low voltage system. Switching the ground side may make it a bit more difficult to work on the circuit though, you would need to remove the fuse to prevent possible short circuit if changing the relay ect. But probably not such a bing deal in a car.

when I talk about the pos and neg side I am not talking about mains (relay power to power the lights) im talking about the neg and pos that turn on the relay , say the relay for spot lights : one is a pos from battery, the next two for pos for the lights , then the other two is a pos and neg for switiching the relay on itself , just like the smaller type of relay (if I can get the file to show)
86 and 85 are the ones im talking about ,
