Default NSW defects

Just saw this. ~

Shooters and Fishers Party

In the past few weeks a number of NSW 4WDers have contacted the Shooters and Fishers Party 4WD Branch about defect notices being issued for driving lights and LED light bars. If you, or someone you know, has been issued a Defect Notice that you believe has been issued incorrectly please send us a message.

One can get away with a tape in the middle thus dividing the light bar into two apparently. What nanny state we live in.

They've been defecting vehicles with obscured or plates placed to high. The top of the plate must be no more than 1300mm. However new colored number plates that render them illegible are allowed.

IMHO most LED light bars are mounted not in accordance with ADR's.

Either too high or above the line of existing headlights or wired up incorrectly.

IMO this whole ADR is questionable... On a 4x4 vehicle the high-mount (e.g. top of windscreen) of lihghtbar is very desirable/practical for offroad use. It's that the ADR is just not catering for this. If someone is using it on the road then "penalise" for all i care but not when it is switched off and/or even covered. All this revenue raising... They can't come up with enough ways to collect the revenue.

easy , mount LEDS with quick release brackets and connectors , place them in the jeep when not in use , and when needed pull over and plug and play .
otherwise , MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE.

Agreed.

An issue for the association delegate to take up to Duncan Gay perhaps.

Lights that are NOT wired to the headlights should be treated as Auxiliary lighting, not driving lighting......but the cops treat all lights as if they are driving lighting.
If you dig around in the endless lists of regs, there are regulations permitting the fitting of auxiliary lighting for special purposes......guess its too easy to make money off 4WDers by defecting vehicle lighting.
Now anyone using offroad auxiliary lighting in an "on road" situation....well, I've got no problem with them getting a ticket for it.
