So now I have 1st, 3rd and 4th + TQ lockup, but back to the issue of holding 1st til at least 40-50 Km/h. Doesn't drop down either unless under 60 and it slams into 1st.

Sigh.
Have you checked the simple things like linkage adjustment? When mine caked with clay/mud in central it would stick in first. Jumping out at 50km/h or so sounds like its in 1-2 Gear.

Used my winch, ran the rope through a winch block and back over the diff
Then back forward to the drag link
Chained the drag link to the top steer arm to stop it turning
And just winched it "straight"

Then slowly drove out and home
Was on my own and being a monday morning not many people to help.

HAHA thanks!

I was taught that there is no point crying about a problem
Just work out how to fix it
And get on with it.

Haven't touched it, but selecting 3rd gives me 1st and 3rd, maybe 10% of the time it will kick down to 2nd instead of 1st. Only back to that symptom after putting my old solenoid b back in. Maybe this one is sticky? Or there is too much pressure that caused it to fail - when trying to refit the broken one it felt loose, but the old one I have back in now feels firm.
