Default Front end noise, help please

Right, before I throw a match at this bloody thing!
Noise came a few weeks ago, upon acceleration, noise stops when I let off the throttle, rear front driveshaft CV looked dodgy, removed driveshaft, drove nice and quiet for the week or so until CV came.
Right front hub had play, ordered them, just replaced it this morning, still noise, so replaced the other side (both side about 1 hour 20 all up)
The noise is still there!!!!!
I am guessing the diff? Fark me, or could it be the front CV on the front driveshaft.
Wouldn't the diff make noise whether the driveshaft s there or not as it's always spinning???? Pinion has no play.

Have you thought about the trannie case.

I went through the same thing and found the front output shaft bearing was the culprit. If you want an XJ Selectrac trannie case I have one for sale that I was going to put in my old WJ.

Also may pay just to do a diff oil change to make sure the right oil is in there as the Quadratrac can complain if the oil is to viscous.

Thanks mate, just finished changing the diff oil today too, it looked alright, dark, but felt OK, didn't feel like grinding paste or anything, didn't seem to be any excessive wear on anything.
I changed the transfer case fluid about 2 months ago, with the proper Mopar gear, if it was the transfer case, wouldn't it make the noise with the front driveshaft in or out? Is there any easy way to check the output bearing?
How much would ya want for the tranny case? Don't they have a different spline count?

I took the front shaft out again, 10 mins, I'm getting good at it, no more noise! Faaaarrrrrrk!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't the TC case make more noise if it's shagged with no shaft as it is working harder, thinking front is losing traction etc.
Would pinion, carrier bearing also make noise without shaft as they are also still under load
It drives really bloody smooth now, and front end feels nice and tight after new bearings

So driveshaft bloke reckons it's quite probable it's the front CV, he reckons diff noise would be all the time, and these do go out but not often and will produce the grinding and vibes I'm feeling. Here's bloody hoping!

Quick way to check if it's the cv on the front propeller shaft...
Cut the big clamp on the cv boot, fill it full of cv grease and cable tie it so you can test drive the car. If it's quieter then you know it's the cv and if not then you can keep looking.

I tapped off the cap, it's full of grease, loaded full.
I cleaned it out and can see some slight wear in it. Have ordered another one, can't hurt I suppose.
Just praying it's not the diff,
