Buy parts yourself online from USA. Much cheaper and you know exactly what you are getting. I paid $160 aud for alloy USA ball joints delivered to my door. Most mechanics don't shop based on price but on what ever is easiest for them. If they don't deal with Jeeps they are probably used to buying everything from the local parts store or dealer, a sure way to pay the Australia tax. Ball joints should take 4 hours in a shop I would reckon. A hoist and decent press would make it that much easier than someone doing it at home.

$100 for a wheel alignment! OK, now I know he is definitely ripping you off. There is only a tow in/out adjustment on the JK, then steering wheel centring adjustment. I do it on my driveway in 10 to 15 minutes with just general hand tools and a tape measure.

Do yourself a favour and call Murchisons or 7 Slot, both in Brissy.

x2, wheel alignments have gone up a lot but even now they are only 75 bucks at 95% of places.

Last one i paid for was $60, up from the usual $45 as it was a fully adjustable all wheel drive Subaru. (As in caster, camber and tow in on all 4 wheels)

Did you ask your mechanic to take you to dinner first, before he tries to screw you?
Sorry, but that sounds way over priced.

No. Too high mate. He's seen 'Jeep' and rubbed his hands together.
As the others have said. Seven slot or Murchison would be your best bet.

And I too do my own wheel alignment, in 1/2 hr with basic tools. 1/2 hr, because I stuff around.

Good luck with it man

Cheers
