Default Jk self service

Ok may seem stupid And has probably been asked before, but I'm doing my first self service On my jk since I bought it its been to the local mechanic but since moving back to tissue can't find a decent one, so I'm wondering what oil and oil filter you guys use for a 2011 3.8, mildy used Offroad, remember its cold on tassie since moving here the jk uses an extra 2L/100 so maybe thinking a different oil could help reduce that? Not overly mechanically minded but know enough to do a service

Just go down to your local sprints, auto pro etc and ask for an oil filter to suit, not uncommon at all so they will have it in stock (most likely). I now use Penrite full synthetic 5w-40 from memory as that is reasonable value.

My JKU always oil changed by me. 10W or 15W/40 and no trouble at all. Filters from Repco (oil and air) as numbered here. Use a synthetic oil ... more eexensive but best. My JKU does not use oil at all. Repco has special on Valvoline 15W/40 at present for $20 / 5litres. I just bought stacks and have used it often without problems. Penrite also (but this is the Repco name brand oil as well so buy repco if cheaper... it's the same oil). Note these synthetic modern oils are "cleansing" oils and will show colour/soot in them early on... this is normal and does not indicate a problem with your engine... just that the oil is doing as it should. Diff oils easy to change as well (will need pump to get it in).Top up brake oil at same time. Done and u have saved yourself about $300 each time in labour stealing.
