Default MY14 Nav Vic directions Rye to Melbourne

Taking a new (second-hand) MY14 GC Ltd for a run I thought I'd try out the sat nav. (I knew the maps were old, so didn't expect too much).

I was coming from Rye to to Surrey Hills.

The normal route is the M11 (Peninsula Freeway) on to M3 (Eastlink) and then on to the M1 (Monash freeway).

The nav knew about the roads as it plotted them rather than having me in the middle of no-where but the directions were trying to direct me off the M11 into Mornington or Frankston.

I don't know if this is just a case of old, bad maps, or a particular setting in the system (eg. avoid motorways - which I couldn't see set anywhere).

Anyone travelled that route with the MY14 and got appropriate directions along the freeways?

Software Version: 14.25.5
NaviServer: 9.10.2.400609
Map Database: CMCDP4ROW;NQROW2012Q4;20130422

PS. I know there are limited/no Aust map updates, but is the above the latest map data?

Cheers.

Did it have "Toll Roads" turned off? EastLink, with tolls, would make it try to go around.

Cheers

After entering the address and the nav calculating a route, select "options" before selecting OK. Someone may have selected shortest route, or no toll roads as above.

I have a MY14 with exact same version 14.25.5, and live in Mt Martha.
This version recognises Peninsula Link but navigate on it. Keeps wanting you to turn off. Bloody annoying and crazy that you can't update it. Was told by Jeep on Tuesday that there have been no updates since 2013.

Cheers, Craig

Thanks Craig - sounds like it's some issue with either the old maps or the version of uConnect.

I'll double check the route options next time we're down there - but your info suggests it's not a settings issue.

I've also got a copy of uConnect 16.13.13 which does have 1 item listed "Route guiding enhancements." So when I get that installed, I can try it again.

I'll also see what happens when I do the trip in the reverse direction (Melb to Rye) to see if it 'suggests' to head off Peninsula Link.

No worries. It's definitely the maps not the settings.
So frustrating considering how long Pen link has been opened.

Let us know how you go with the update.

Cheers, Craig

The update went through fine - but makes no difference to the route.

I put in a destination of Rye from Melb and instead of turning off Eastlink (M3) on to Peninsula Link (M11) it keeps going straight on to C777 through Frankston, on to C784 and then back on to Pen Link.

I must admit I was surprised it even had Peninsula Link on the 2012 maps given it didn't open until 2013.

No big dramas - I would only use the map if it showed traffic congestion anyway (which it doesn't).
