Hi Pete
Looks good! Are you happy with the finished product? Do you have any recommendations for others planning to do the same thing? Any problems encountered etc? Painting techniques?

I used a 50-50 mix of linseed oil and turpentine instead of flashy cleaners and restored old flares like that to looking new in a few minutes.. How long it lasts? - so far, 3 months in direct sunlight

Yes I like the result watto888.
The paint I used was a generic brand fr eBay, a rubber based product same as Plasti Dip. $61 for 6 cans plus $9 delivery, so 70 bucks. I have one and a bit cans left and I did 5 wheels.
I was about to do a 5 wheel tyre rotation so decided to do the spray job at the same time over a weekend.
Spare off, gave it a good wash back and front, when dry gave it a spray with mentholated spirits from spray bottle, wipe dry with lint free cloth.
I then used masking tape to mask off, not sure if this is absolutely necessary but I thought might be easier than peeling paint off rubber.
BE PATIENT! I rushed the first one and applied to much paint which did run a little [emoji16].Do a light dusting each time, it won't cover in a couple of coats, be patient! Maybe 6 applications about 15 minutes apart and you are done ))
I searched YouTube and there are plenty of examples of application.
I guess the beauty of it is that it can be peeled off...
The good thing about doing one by one is Jeep can still be driven during process BUT if you can have all wheels off at once would be quicker. I'm thinking of doing my mountain bike next [emoji12]

Similar...... but with Acetone, the mix is about 10% boiled Linseed oil. A little goes a loooooong way. Turps would be cheaper

Before the first wash dust tends to stick to it ( nit sure if its still tacky or its an electrostatic thing ) but after that its fine. Does Turps do the same ?
