Default JK Wheels on camper trailer

I know I have seen a thread here somewhere about this but I can't seem to find it.

I have a camper trailer with a wheel track that is only 5mm off my JK.

My tent needs the trailer to sit a few cms higher to get things set up firmly so I figure I can kill a whole flock of birds with one stone by modifying the trailer to suit standard JK wheels.

I would then be carrying 2 spares that matched jeep and trailer, have virtually the same wheel track and a firm tent

Mechanics and engineering are not my things ... I am fine with electronics but that's about it.

So ... I understand that I will need to change the hubs on the trailer.

Apparently, Jeep hubs are had to come by?

I read somewhere that you can get blank hubs and have them drilled to suit 5x5 stud pattern ... is that all that needs to be done?

While you can get he hubs drilled to match the PCD and stud pattern the problem is the centre bore on the JK rims.
They are hub centred wheels and use the step in the hubs to mate centralise the wheel in its bore and then the studs just clamp the wheel.
Most trailer axles use Holden or ford bearings and the centre hub is too large for the JK rims to fit over.
So you have two options and both dodgy.
One machine the centre bore out in the JK rims so they fit over your trailer hubs, but you can't use them on the Jk anymore...pointles and doesn't allow interchange wheels, just looks good with match rims??
Two, get a set of wheel spacers that match the trailer hub on the inside and the jk rim on the outside. This is illegal and will increase your track a few inches at least, so again, pointless and now illegal??
Sorry
Matt

Matt ... Thanks for taking the time to explain all that. I appreciate it.

So does this mean I would need to get some sort of custom axle made or are there just no viable options?

I wonder if there is some way a custom axle could be made to mount the standard JK unit bearings? Gives you an extra set of those too in an emergency. It is just a quick thought and haven't looked into in personally.

I've got wheel adapters on my camper. No problems so far. Wheel track is not much different either due to the bigger backspace on the jeep wheels.

Can you define "Wheel adaptors" for me?

These are the wheel adapters I use to bolt 5 stud (5-5") jeep wheels on to my camper trailer which is 6 stud (6-5.5")

The 3rd pic shows one adapter has 2 parts. Bottom ring bolts to existing studs on trailer with original nuts.
Then that top ring bolts on to it. Using the 6 unbrako Allen head bolts.
Then bolt the wheel on!
