Don't forget the other end of the scale. The E settings are awesome in the ruts and rocks when you get bounced around.

I rock around on U4 normally, But i agree when you get into bouncy territory you need to drop back too E9, but i still find alot of turbo lag here and the pedal travel is also huge, but you avoid that jerky ride from the sensitivity of the Ultimate setting.
Just wish there was one in the middle like an M setting

My understanding is that's what A.C is supposed to do, variable assistance according to conditions. Otherwise you could play around with more passive settings e.g. U1-2? U4 is medium aggressive.
Again, I can only speak for 5sp though, 8sp shifting attitudes may cause a different throttle experience.

Just did a 40 min round trip and I'm more convinced than ever that A.C is the go, at least for the 5sp. I'm a full convert.

It's never been smoother, gives all the instant acceleration of the U settings (i.e. seems to go up and down the U scale seamlessly by itself based on how hard you press the pedal) BUT it's so much smoother at lower speeds. NO lag anywhere (although I never had any before tbh), NO hunting for gears. Seems to know exactly which gear to be in now without the previous twitchiness. Anyone with iDrive in a 5sp, I'd recommend giving A.C a try, can't believe it took me this long.

The wife uses the GC as her daily driver because I have a Hilux ute for work.

Before I got back into 4wds I was in the performance car scene for a long time. I'm used to driving V8s or turbo'd sixes so she got used to them as well. In fact she drives quicker than I do. Only this morning, she sms me to ask if the mobile speed cameras can get you from the opposite side of the road. I told her she'd find out in 3 weeks time

Coming staright from a 2012 5 speed to a 2021 8 speed The turbo lag hit me like a steam train, was driving it around for about 4 weeks and could not get used to it, Never had it, or anything like it in the 5 speed.
Jezz you would got to take off at the lights in the 8 speed and nothing for about 2 seconds, and then Boom you would be the sufferer of whiplash.

The I-drive makes such a difference, but TBH since fitting the I-drive I have yet to see 7-8Ltrs per 100k's, and don't think I ever will

It isn't so much turbo lag in the 8 speeds mate, it's the piece of shit torque management that gives you that 2 seconds of excitement when you try to join traffic or get across a busy intersection.
