Default Lifted Jeep Insurance in QLD

Just a quick question.

I have only had 3rd party insurance on my Jeeps cause I think there is no point insuring comprehensively cause if I have an accident they might not pay up. Who here in QLD with a 4 inch or over lift has had an accident and made a claim no dramas?

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking about comprehensive insurance and want to know who to insure with, with an illegal lift and tires???

Some of them won't insure certain mods whether they are legal or not, Suncorp would not insure my Dual Cab GQ Patrol as a Dual Cab, only as a wagon. So I would have only got market value for a wagon if it was written off.

i have always thought that they use best judgement to decide if that illegal mod was directly to blame for the accident - e.g. an illegal tint is not to blame for a rear ender (basically)

The thing is if you have over 2 inchs lift and a 30 inch Tyre in Queensland on a TJ that is illegal. Lots of TJ's have 33's and 4 inch lift. Have you guys had dramas with an insurance claim?

I have a 4in lift, RACQ insurance.

Destroyed my front right control arm mount on 'Vennor Road' in Ormeau and RACQ fixed it up no problem.
