Default JK CRD start problem

Hi all,

sometimes my JK CRD 2008 struggle to start the engine. It doesn't happen every day, basically you try to start the engine and you just hear the starting motor trying to start but nothing happens. So I normally try a 2nd time and it starts.

BUT this morning...it was not starting at all...I tried three or four times and then I did what normally helps a lot with this bloody car: I disconnected the battery for 5 min...then I tried again and the car started the engine immediately.

During the day zero problem to start...

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

common problem, dying battery, crap in the starter motor, fuel pump intake dying, bad injectors. in that order.

Every 3rd post on the facebook page asks the same question.
Ensure you can hear the intake priming when you turn the key on the first start

Sounds like the battery is on it's way out. The colder the weather the harder it has to try and turn the motor over.

Thank you mate, the battery is less than 1 yr old (Optima D31A)...I love this car but it has so many little issues that I don't understand if they're related, like for instance:

- sometimes ESP BAS ABS warning lights turn on on the dashboard...when you restart the car they stay on for other 5 min and then they disappear
- sometimes flat spots in acceleration (definitely better after cleaning map and maf sensors)

I live in a tropical area, in wet season it's very hot and humid...now it's changing temperature, we're in dry season so it's cooler (please bare in mind for us it's "cold" when it's 20° ))

If I go to a mechanic he's gonna rip me off without finding the solution...

Thanks again

Thanks mate, the battery is pretty new (less than 1 yr old)...and here the coldest it's probably 17-20° in the morning...do you think could this be a reason?

Thanks

ESP ABS BAS warning light is non centred steering wheel or faulty ABS sensor. every JK does it.

Out of left field, make sure to check your immobiliser/alarm system wiring.

I had that with my old FPV. Cost me 3k to diagnose a very simple problem and replace parts that didn't need replacing.
