Got the heater working. Hadn't been used for 4 years and seems nice and warm.

Finally got the Jeep home last night, new welsh plugs in and running a treat - with the exception of finding play in the distributor shaft along with a knocking noise after changing the rotor and cap. fitted the original one back as the new one seemed to be worse, but it's still there.

Must have missed the knocking noise in the past due to the exhaust leak and rough idle which is now gone.

Play is a few mm either side.

Stalls on cold start, stalls on sharp left turns - otherwise running well, but felt a little flatter than I remember - I have been driving some smaller cars in the interim though.

I know Dazza96 recently mentioned removing the CamPS to fix a similar issue, however is there anything in particular to do to tighten up any play? Did a search online and couldn't find any how to's other than to replace the dissy.

Dazza and I looked into repairing some dissies using some of our spare parts but it was a no go, the easiest way is to replace the dissy with a decent one, easy job to do, let me know if you need one as I have a good spare...

Had the same problem when I changed the leads. One of the leads wasn't in properly and was making quite a loud clacking noise, which sounded like the rotor hitting the dizzy cap.

Thanks Bill - all connections seem ok and the knocking noise comes in rhythmic waves, not just a constant.

Thanks to Wooders for getting the water pump to me so quickly! Now to spend the weekend putting it in. Any tips? The 'heater pipe' thing that screws in, can I just use regular teflon tape to seal the threads?
