Default Winch mounting into non-winch bar

Hello fellow jeepers! It's been a long time since I've poster here as I haven't been doing many mods. Well that's about to change.

I'm wanting to fit a winch - looking at the rumva 11. But my bull bar is standard model not the one made for a winch. Mopar made the same bar in a winch model and appart from a slot in the front I don't know how it differs. I remember someone on here years ago attempting the same thing but I can't find it in the search. I also can't find much on custom fitting winches when I google.
Basically I'm wanting to cut this one and fabricate a winch plate, and mount the winch low and inside the bar. Can anyone point me in the right direction or show photos of winch plates they've made?
I've attached a photo of my rig, plus a photo of the winch cabable bar.

Any help or pointers would wonderful thank you.

Dave.

There are a few manufacturers that make winch cradles for the JK......you might try and buy a solution, could be easier than making one yourself???

Thanks Leigh, I can't really find any cradles designed to sit low. Lots of high mount ones on the market... perhaps I'm not looking in the right place.

Yeah mate. It's a front runner rack. I've had loads of problems with it because it was sold as fitting '07-17 models but they had never tested it on early models like mine. They didn't realise the roof was different. So I had to heavily mod the brackets 😩 A good rack though if you have a '11 onwards jeep.

Hey Dave.

I have the genuine Mopar one that yours is based off and I recently removed it to modify and repaint it.

The winch is held in place with four M12 x 50mm bolts that go through a thick solid plate thats part of the bumper. The bumper is attached to the vehicle using 4 M14 bolts through each chassis rail from the front and an M16 bolt through a different bracket under the winch platform that attaches to the chassis rail. It's solid an really heavy, built to withstand the force exerted on pulling a 2.5 tonne truck out of a bog!

If your's isn't built to the same standard I would personally advise against using a winch on it for safety reasons.

I stupidly didnt take any photos of it whilst it was out coz I didnt think I'd need them, so I cant provide you any more information

Hope that helps in some way?
