I guess the next question is, how do you get the old one off? I found one at a good price and thought I would go out and pull the old one off to make certain it was the same, but I can't get even the smallest socket or spanner on the bolts. Do I have to remove the fuel rail?

I notice that there is a sensor at the back of the fuel rail as well there is one at the front. What is the function of the front one, and any way to test?
Also, remember, that when it was in the mechanics shop, engine diagnostics performed to test fuel system and electricals. No electrical faults, fuel pressure only delivering 182-728 KPA. So, would that be fuel pump bad, or fuel rail sensor bad? Does the fuel pump actually pump 36000 KPA?

Ok, starting to work this out. So the one at the front of the fuel rail is the sensor, and the one at the fire wall end is the actuator, which releases pressure when it gets to high.
So would the most likely culprit be the actuator?

I would be assuming that to remove the actuator, you have to remove the fuel rail. Yes?

You'll probably see it in a week, mine landed very quickly.

I seriously doubt it's the fuel pressure sensor.

Here is an alternative location to buy a genuine part:

https://europarts-sd.com/fuelpressur...r2002-2003.asp

I'd try calling MB and also http://www.silverstarspares.com.au/home/ to see if they have better availability/pricing locally. Sometimes prices are actually cheaper here than OS.

Here is what you'll need to do based on a reply to bezzat's question yesterday:

You need to pull the fuel rail off. Pretty easy job overall, from memory you need to:

1. Disconnect the high pressure fuel lines.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector off of the pressure sensor.
3. If you can reach the back of the rails, disconnect the fuel return lines an electrical connector off of the regulator. If not do it after the next step.
4. Unbolt and remove the rail.
5. Remove/replace the regulator and reinstall.

Probably about 1-2 hours to do the job.

It' would be my guess. Too much return fuel from the injectors can make it it kill the fuel rail pressure. If it's leaking fuel pressure will never come up to where it needs to be which will mean the engine won't start.

Given yours' will start with the aide to SYB, I'm hazarding a guess that it won't let the fuel rail come up to pressure.

Ok, I have ordered the rear sensor, the ELM, have replaced filter, all fuel lines, cam position sensor, and this morning, removed the fuel rail and sensor, so it is ready to install the new one.
So, if it is to much return fuel from the injectors, does that mean that the injectors, or injector is leaking? Remember, when it was at the mechanics, they replaced an injector, and done a leak down test, and all good.

So, what else could it be?
