Transfer case already has breather fitted, its attatched to trans bellhousing bolt top of trans on drivers side at back of motor.
Transmission breather however is inside bellhousing and is a small hole in the trans oil pump housing behind the torque converter & just above the centreline of the crankshaft. This is the lowest breather on the car & water in the trans is probable the worst place, but doesnt seem to occur unless you are stuck for awhile in pretty deep water.

On my CRD the tranny breather is right up in the engine bay, in fact all the breathers are in ideal places which surprised me.
