Default Diff oil change - gaskets or RTF

Looking to change the oil on both diffs (QuadraDrive VariLocks) & while the accepted method seems to use RTF I find you can actually get what look to be rubberised gaskets front (Dana 30) & rear (Dana 44).

Has anyone used these rather than the RTF method? They promise to be less messy, no waiting for the RTF to cure & are re-useable. Only downside is the cost of the rear gasket.

I've just used the RTV sealant on mine, doesn't take long to dry, run a bead around the cover, go for a coffee, slap it back on and fill her up

I put LubeLocker gaskets on mine. They're great, but expensive.

Thanks for the replies.

I've always used gaskets & RTV seemed a bit of a bodge but if that's the way it's done then so be it.

Pleased to hear it only takes a few minutes to cure - I'd read you had to leave it for 6 hours or more but maybe that was down to the type of RTV.
