I'll say it again, just make it a factory option. No risk to the dealers or Chrysler, and they can charge what they want.

I would have considered a diesel Rubicon but, now that I have experienced my rig, I probably wouldn't bother. Perhaps when it's time to upgrade.

Many Jeepers have been wanting this option, myself included for some time.

This should be a no-brainer for Jeep Chrysler AU.

I agree that it would probably work out cheaper to build a CRD sport into a "Rubicon" but diffs and transfer cases are big ticket items which are a PITA to import from the US, and would need engineering headaches to comply with regulations.

I have probably reached a point where it would be stupid to put my rig back to stock & upgrade should the Deiselcon option be available. However, I have pissed enough $$ up the wall to really care and am a brainless knucklehead anyway, so yes I would buy one. Bring it on...

I would have bought one if it was available but had to settle for a petrol Rubicon instead...

i think they should do it.
WOuld i buy it? well i dont think the premium you pay for the diesel and servicing cost is worth it over the petrol so i reckon i would stick with the petrol rubi and i am more than happy with mine.
I think there is definately a market for it though for those that want a diesel with the rubi fruit and all covered by warranty and the elecric lockers and ESD are a great idea that work well

Its basically economic. A rubi is about 7k more than a sport. Would you want to then spend another 4-5k on a diesel. Or $46,000 for a 2dr wrangler when the entry level sport is $34,000. I have a Ruby. I'd love it to be a diesel but i dont think i would want to spend that sort of money when i could get a diesel sport and put the mods on it I want want with immediate delivery. Some dealers in Perth dont even stock the Rubicon so an order is a must with the Jeep 3 month waiting period.

It doesn't matter what it cost, if the customer is prepared to pay why say no? There is no technical reason why it can't be done, a diesel rubicon is available in some european countries.

Just take the customers deposit and build one in the factory just for that customer. It's pretty simple really. In the unlikely event that the customer pulls out of the deal, do you really think Chysler couldn't sell it? Really?
