That price is probably right if they charge $90/hr for labour cause really that's the most it should take to do the pair. Even if starting from scratch with a full replacement kit it is simply remove old diff fitting, screw in new fitting, attach hose, run it along the body cable tied to handy spots then mount engine bit and hook up hose. There is nothing to it. I think even you could do it clarky without too much trouble. (no offense just based on your own comments in other threads). If you can undo and do up a bolt you can do one of those kits.

No offense taken fester. I can certainly undo and do up a bolt. Perhaps I'm just selling myself short. I'll probably give it a go instead of paying the $90+ p/hr to someone else

Thanks for taking the time to give me the run down and I'll let you know how I went when I get around to doing it.

Clarkey.

As others have said, the breathers are already high up. The hose in the engine bay for the front diff (on mine at least) could've had maybe 20cm more added to it and it would've been sticking out above the height of the bonnet. If you get water that high up, you'll have it on the wrong side of the doors too. If it really bothers you, just attach any type of hose to the end of it and you're done

Thanks bikemat.

I'll take that on board. I don't envisage getting into anything over the bonnet but having seen some heavy duty flooding here in QLD over the past couple of years, it's more of a precautionary measure. I wanna fit them to the transfer case and gearbox as well so I might only need to do those & the rear diff if the front breather is high enough.

Cheers.

where did you end up with this Clarkey? Did you have to extend any breathers at all?

Cheers

Hey 5spiderG.

I got about as far as getting prices from ARB & TJM. Both were far to expensive so I've put it back on the wish list to focus on other things like a roof rack/tray. No luck there either though.

Cheers,

Clarkey.

I did this to my Jackaroo some years ago for the rear diff. I bought a few metres of fuel line, and a cheap plastic fuel filter. I ran the hose from the diff vent, in through a blanking grommet in the floor, through the inner guard and terminated it in the tool/jack compartment inside the back. Topped it off with the fuel filter to keep crap out. It cost me less than $20.

Just keep the hose secure, make sure you have enough slack for any suspension movement, and keep it away from the exhaust. If you do terminate it inside the vehicle, make sure you seal the point where the hose enters.

I havent looked at the WK2 yet.
