Default Electric brake controller in KL

Has anyone put an electric brake controller into a KL ?

There's supposed to be a plug under the dash but when I asked the dealer workshop about it they said they didn't know anything about it . Maybe they just don't want to tell you about it if you want to do it yourself .

One strange thing , there's a plug in the back of the car for the trailer wiring to plug into but the blue wire for the EB's comes out of the loom about 6" from the plug and terminates . You would think if there is a plug at the front the blue wire would go to the front and connect to it .

If anyone can throw any light on the existence of the plug and its location it would be much appreciated .

Cheers
Brian

Have not seen mine yet so not 100%. All the stuff I could find was US based on the OEM tow pack which we supposedly get and it has a grey square 4 pin plug (about 20x20mm) tied up in the loom under the dash. Hoping ours is the same as Tekonsha have an adaptor to plug the P3 straight in.

Though this does beg the question of why the blue wire does not go right through. Might ask my Dealer as they will be fitting my tow bar before delivery.

The blue wire dosn't go all the way through because the main harness terminates in the rear of the vehical like all factory harness's the blue and sometimes a black for the reverse sensors is left open to patch into them if required they run down to the trailer plug so so it doesn't have to be opened to have wires fitted into it , some models may have a powered wire that runs through to the PDC to power a module if its included otherwise the harness stops in the rear quarter.

I'm using a P3 as well and was hoping for a no hassles hookup .

The blue wire terminating just seemed a bit strange to me if its supposed to be plug and play . If I can figure how to put a pic up without photobucket I'll do it tomorrow .

Have to get it sorted in the next couple of weeks , going up the inland early August .

If in fact there is a plug under the dash to plug a controller into it just seems a bit stupid that they wouldn't run the blue wire right through to the plug in the back .

Cheers Brian

This is the plug in the rear of the car . As you can see the blue wire for EB's terminates not far from the plug , the other side of the plug goes to the 7 pin .
Its pretty obvious that if there is a plug under the dash just plugging a controller in to it isn't going to make the EB's work .
I'm going to pull a couple of panels off and see if I can find the dash plug , will post a photo if I find it .

That looks like they have only given us have the bloody tow loom!

I have asked my dealer who will be fitting my towbar when my vehicle arrives since the non braked tow limit of 450kg would be lucky to cover the average empty trailer.....

He is awaiting an answer from the service dept.
