Looks great!

A pair of LED tail lights recessed into the rear bar would look the goods. Where's the number plate going - on the bar or on the wheel carrier? Number plate will need a light as well.

Any thoughts about mounting a reversing camera or rear work light?

The mount inside the chassis "rail" is similar to the Warn rear bar.
To mount the warn bar you enlarge the hole and a bracket bolta to the bottom and the side.
With those mounts it should be plenty strong.
Tricky working out the best possition for the pivot too, cant obscure the lights and cant block the tailgate. Good suggestion the LEDs in the bar.
The welds look great!
What catch have you sourced?

To answer some questions

I'm looking at mount LED's in the bar to supplement the exist lights. They're not cheap though and I want some flush ones so will take my time and find something that suits. I need to visit a truck supply place.

I haven't sourced a catch yet, I'm not sure if the carrier will go all the way across to the opposite side or just past the centre, that decision will also help me decide on the catch. If it goes all the way across I might try a bear claw catch where a stud comes up out of the bar and you can just slam it shut. This wont work if I dont go all the way across as the stud will get in the way of the tailgate opening.

As for making more, It certainly is one of those things you only do for yourself Especially when you're cutting everything with a grinder and bending the steel on the work bench, maybe with the more professional tools it would be worth while but this way it takes days and lots of sweat.

I'll post some updates later today, I've done a couple of hours this morning and made up one of the returns, I'll do the other, shape the end of the bar and weld them on today (hopefully)

Cheers
Steve

Thats a good idea, especially as one of mine is busted anyway

I was also looking at making light boxes so that's another option.

Cheers

yeah they where half the price of one tail light to buy here so as i had one busted i got them and all that i had to do was cut the bulb clips a bit to let them clip in very easy to do....and the added plus of having them upside down is now when i make a carrier i dont did to worry about the lights being blocked..
