Engine Error code P0302

Hi guys have had bit of a look around but haven't really come up with much. P0302 is "Cylinder 2 misfire" apparently, not exactly sure where to start my quest to fix! A methodology would be appreciated. Any thoughts? Maybe someone who has already been through this? Thanks...

ps: is it ok to continue driving it, short trips?

Check for spark first. If you pull the plug lead off the spark plug, with the engine running, you should be able to hear it arcing to the top of the plug.

Be carefull, though. I've had them zap me even when my fingers were nowhere near the end of the boot! I tend to pull it then start it.

Ok pulled the lead off the plug, started motor could see the spark jumping from the other end of the lead, where it goes into the coil? Was jumping to a metal bracket near by!
Turned off removed lead, put back on making sure was good fit.
Disconnected neg from battery to get rid of engine light.
Drove around the block (left 8 spanners a sitting on bullbar, they fell off making aloud metallic racket, thought the motor had fallen out haha)
500m down the road I hear a boing and the engine light is back on (
Checked, same code!
Where should I go from here? Any ideas? & thanks...

The leads are quite fragile ( even pulling them off the spark plug has been known to break them ) and have been know to deteriorate and arc out especially at the plug end. Sometimes you can hear it, or see it if its dark

If its possible, substitute a good lead... IIRC cylinder two is passengers side front so you won't need a long one. I'd avoid trying to do a lead swap with other "good" leads already on the engine.... IMO you stand a real chance of damaging them trying to remove them.

Thanks MightyMouse my initial inspect with lead off plug showed a 2cm arc fr coil end of lead to metal bracket. Then what I'm guessing a decent spark once the lead was pushed on harder at the spark plug end.
Don't have any spare leads to check.
Plugs were replaced about 40k ago, they were expensive $150 for 6.
Could it b a plug? Is 40k a lot for a plug?
