How long should I wait to successfully break an engine in before I plug in a superchips flashpaq? It's only got about 400ks on the engine should I wait until I clock up at least 1000k?

MightyMouse, that sucks! Won't the vendor swap your unit for a new one?

I finally used my superchips tuner after waiting several weeks for the stealership to give me back my rig. (long saga) I was immediately impressed with the smoother engine and increased power and better shifts. ( The switch to premium unleaded may have helped too)

The first thing you do when the module arrives is register with Superchips and get the firmware update for your own model. Your dealer may say its a 2010 model but check what the VIN decoder says.

I'm yet to try some of the offroading features though.

ahhh sounds good, I can't wait to get my hands onto one of these units and have a play!

I must admit, I do find the stock 3.8L petrol engine (auto trans) powerless! On the highway it's hard to just cruise without it changing down gears to maintain speed, and uphills haha it's pretty bad! I guess I'm not used to it (my first 4x4) previous car was an 05 Subaru Liberty GT 2.0T so I'm just use to smooth power delivery whenever I push my foot down.

Hope the superchips flashpaq can give some sort of an improvement to driveability

Oh the 3.8 petrol is gutless. I always had v8's, the last one was a 350 in a small Chevy truck, so coming from that to a 6 was a real hard thing to get used to. I think you have to just accept the 3.8 for what it is & not expect to much out of the Superchip, that way if you get more out of the chip than expected it's a bonus

The Subaru is built for speed, so you can not compare it to the JK.
But you will notice the Flashpaq will improve performance.

Personally I use the 91 Tune with 98 Premium Petrol. Alot more take of power than stock. Some people use the 93 octane Tune, but I found that caused the engine to ping. Anyway, you will get better performance. But it depends on how you drive and what you expect from it.
