Actually dude, it's more like a 1 in 400 chance, thats the way I read it...

The "alpha" type detonator is the most dangerous one but it is fitted into vehicles 11-16 years old, which is none of ours.

I still don't like 1/400 odds, especially given that most of us will be that 1, due to the humidity over here!

Well yes. Especially since mine was in QLD for the first 2 years of it's life, and I spend half the year with the top off and tube doors on. Unless it is absolutely p1ssing down with rain in summer, and then it is tube doors and soft top. So I have certainly had a greater 'humidity' in the front cabin area than most...

(I've had a couple of times when I pulled the carpets & drain plugs for a few months due to rain...)

I hear ya man.

Mine spent the first half of its life in Noosa and now resides in the east of Sydney with me. Although I rarely take the hardtop off, it's been most places so it will definitely have seen some humidity, especially in the underground car park at my unit, it's stuffy as hell down there.

I'm going to call Jeep again soon and lay into them some more

So, today I got around to having a look at my passenger airbag. Do you think it might have been exposed to excessive humidy?

I know I do! Yes, all that brown on the ends is rust.

Hey bud, the image is missing... I'm keen to see what yours looks like.

I recently just found out that my company have the distribution for CJD in NZ, so i got one of the guys to look up the airbag for my JK. In NZ they are selling 12.7 a month (average), they currently have no stock but are receiving stock soon... How do jeep australia have no stock or even a date for stock but our little friends across the splash have their recalls being carried out??

I'm getting the people at work to see if they can ship me an airbag and see if there is a way for me to take it to a Jeep place over here, register it into stock, carry out the recall and be done with it, but I'm not sure it'll be possible. But without trying, I won't know

UPDATE:

Called the local dealer. They had no idea whatsoever on the availablility & could only say they were waiting on supply from Jeep as they are not allowed to go outside the channel. They did give me the number for Jeep Customer Care, however.

1300 133 079

They informed me that for NSW they have a supply date of the end of September, but mave have better details if I call back in a couple of weeks.
