Bodgie, good point re looking like standard, and it was on my mind too. However in Vic no one looks at the engine bay much, even VicRoads when i took the Jeep to get registered, they had a bit of a look to find the engine number(good luck finding that),probably different in NSW.
Thats interesting the lack of gunk in the inlets on your motor. Its not as bad on the parts motor inlets as it was in the manifold,so i hope the daily driver is not too bad.It will open up a nice bit of space with the new manifold.I did notice it was more gunk in inlet no 3 and a bit lesser in 2 and 4 and slightly less again in 1 and 5.Think i read on here somewhere that others have noticed this also.Anyhow i just want to get it done,i have heard a lot of stories about 3liter patrols getting engine damage and prados as well, supposedly over fueling some cylinders because of EGR gunk restricting air in some inlets more than others.Since i plan on towing a caravan on as many trips as i can with the Jeep,it will be under load a lot and it would be good to have all the cylinders getting the same amount of fresh air.

From memory the worst ports on mine were 3,4,5, I think the crap drops out of suspension due to lower air velocity at the back of the manifold, the air also needs to take a sharper turn which may make the difference.

3.0 liter Patrols fail due to EGR gunk buildup, number 3 from memory is a real problem. The 2.7 OM612 engine is less problematic, but there are plenty of pics on the Internet where you can see holes in the top of pistons. Better to tidy it up, also doesn't hurt to fit a catch can too.
