Default 72 Jeep J series

G'day I'm looking for a business that reconditions or sells from Driveshafts for a J series and can give me a price. The shaft measures approx 25 5/16"in compressed centre to centre and has a cardan joint on the transfer end and slip yoke on the Diff end. The splines of the slip yoke are worn out. I've tried poly4x4 who put me onto city Jeep but I had no reply from email, maybe they're closed?
I can buy reco units from the US outright for $300-400 landed, freights a killer!
Cheers John

The splines are your problem. The only way that works is to replace the spline yoke end, rebuilding splines is a waist of time & very expensive. I have had axle splines on large earth moving equipment redone, no change out of $1k. It will probably be a Spicer part. Automotive Super Balance in Shepparton do this sort of thing but they are not cheap. There is probably a similar place over your way. Jeep places would be a waste of time for a rebuild.

If your not wanting to replace the whole thing just order a new spline from states and get an engineering firm to replace that and balance it.

I needed to replace mine cardon joint and it worked out a lot cheaper to get part from drive shaft place in states then here a lot cheaper.
