Hi I've been having an ongoing battle with a P0335 crank position sensor code, the JEEP is fine at start up but once warm i hit a bump or out bush and bingo i get a crank sensor position code and the JEEP goes into a semi limp home mode yet i can clear it with a hand held code reader (but normally will go again once i hit a bump) Jeep have no answers and i have changed the sensor twice. Any advice would be great
There was a wire harness issue related to this, I recall.....the harness was slightly too short and the wiring would crack. Jeep makes a replacement (longer) harness section - so I'm told. I believe this should be covered by Jeep, as well.....best off talking with a dealer service manager.
you didnt say if you replaced sensors with mopar part (but having said this some reports from stateside are saying that mopar crank sensors arnt what they used to be). if this is happening when u hit a bump i would look at all the earth connections on the jeep.
I had a similar problem to this a couple of years ago. Its was an over crimped wire harness for the cam position sensor. The way it was crimped created a break in the wire, resulting in a poor connection during warm weather over corrugations and thus triggering a CPS fault code like the one you have experienced above.
They stuffed around with mine for 4-5 visits to find the fault and in the end it was part number 68148103AA that was required to solve my issue. Good luck
