20s seem to be fine, the only issue is when you have to use trails with tree roots and rock, more chance of doing sidewall damage or busting a rim.

Apologies for reviving an old thread....and a question that seemingly never goes away...

I am assuming the rims referenced in the previous photo are possibly these https://www.thewheeldeal.com.au/whee...-machined.html

My question is; apart from from the tyres possibly poking outside the factory flares, is anyone able to suggest any other ideas why this option wouldn't be a viable option for clearing the callipers on the HD brakes for fitting 17" wheels?

it's illegal to run spacers which you need to run 17" rims to clear the hd brakes

Not 100% correct - some 17s will work without spacers if they're a larger offset to stock and/or of a particular design that happens to clear the calliper. There are a few of them out there

Best bet is to buy the 17” Wrangler rims, and put them on an actual Wrangler. Win / Win all round in my opinion.
