Default Battery choices for the 2.8L CRD

I need to tap into the collective wisdom again.

I’m looking for a new battery for my wife’s 05 KJ Cherokee 2.8L CRD, while the suggested Optima Redtop is a great idea the change in case design has been a problem, the terminals have been moved closer to the middle of the case making it hard to fit the clamps due to the angled cable.

Any other options in the size range? 800ah or greater preferred but anything over 700 ah is acceptable.

Thanks,
Doug.

Hey Doug, sorry matey, haven't needed to buy a battery for a few years now, didn't know the optima had been changed, seems like a silly idea to move terminals.

Let us know what you end up with, would be interested to know.

( I had replaced the battery terminal connector on my old KJ with some adjustable ones, that let me alter the angle of the clamp to the cable, without having to force the cable, I got them at soopercheep.)

Morning Chris, yeah, I’ve crimped on new terminals on my project WG and may do the same on the KJ. Just got back from Canberra and snow where she was a bit slow to crank so I’m pretty keen to upgrade the battery, I don’t want my wife to get stuck anywhere. I like the idea of having 800amp CCA available.

Doug.

Have you had the battery load tested and have you done a proper charge on the battery.
Try that first maybe rather than replacing it.
A lot of batteries get replaced for no real reason when a little TLC is all that is needed.
