Default My first WK - 2007 Overland No issues that I know of 160000 miles

USA here.....Ive never had a Jeep before but in talking to people, reading etc...here is what I have learned maintenancewise....chime in and add/correct as needed! Ive looked at the owners manual some too which details maintenance....local dealer here said plugs & drivetrain oil were critical?

- spark plugs every 30000 miles, only use Champion copper plugs
- differential oil every 30000 miles
- TC oil every 30000 miles
- Tranny oil change every 100000 miles
- Hoses?
- Main Belt?

Some questions

- are there any grease fittings that need to be greased?

What else do I need to be aware of?

I have read in a number of forums that the 4.7V8 is sensitive to the brand and type of spark plug and if that is correct then only use the recommended brand and part number number but having written that I have to report I have had no problems with bosch platinums in mine.

If you have quadra-drive diffs and do plenty of 4 wheeling or driving in the ice and snow oil or through water then maintenance is important, but i can report that our rear varilok has over 200,000kms on its last oil change on our quadra-drive and it is working nicely still. Although the front dana 30 diffs are a little delicate and therefore if varilok I would consider meeting the factory recommendations. Never touched the TC oil in 200,000kms other than checking quantity. I often think that factory recommendations for servicing is more about keeping the dealers happy and other than engine oil changes which should always be done on spec can be pushed out.

But if you want to do them bang on spec then that is your choice and it wouldn't hurt.

This is not specific to Jeep or WK, but my approach with any pre-loved car with a few miles up:

1. Check if a detailed service history is available, then you get an idea of what's either been done - or not...

2. If SH unavailable, then get all the fluids, filters & plugs changed. Do a visual on belt and hoses, change if in the slightest doubt.

At least this way you establish your new 'base' position for future maintenance.

Personally I don't like skimping on any part of servicing, in fact I often view some of the fluid change intervals prescribed by factory as too optimistic (not only for Jeep!), I'd sooner change more frequently rather than try to save a few bucks especially if you're going to work it hard (e.g. towing, or rock climbing, or climate extremes etc.).

Default thanks

thanks for the replies...the jeep has a 5.7 HEMI
there are past dealership has records but they wont release them to me so...wonder why? why cant they redact the name of previous owners etc? Will not even verbally tell me! The jeep has been dealer maintained per the carfax. I can tell it had new shocks put on, all recalls were done, new brakes, hoses, belt. Looks like the cats were replaced at one point and there was a FI problem, they were replaced and this is probably what caused the cats to fail.....had o2 sensor faults as can been seen on the history with my ODBII reader.
